Frequently asked Questions

Things to know ABOUT AV calvary

What time do you start on Sunday?
Our services start at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings.
What should I wear?
You can dress causal, or you can dress up. Whatever you are comfortable with. God looks at the heart not on the exterior.
What about the kids?
We have CKC (Calvary Kids Church) that starts at 10:00 am as well. This program is for birth to 5th grade. You will need to check them in before service starts.
Can My kids stay with me?
Absolutely! We understand that coming to a new environment can be scarry. We do also have a Mother's room available if your children would get the wiggles and you would need to relocate.
How early should I arrive?
We provide a time of fellowship in our coffee shop before service starts. You are welcome to come 30 mins early and check things out and get to know some new people. If you have children to check into our children's ministry area (birth-5th grade) you will want to come at least 15 mins early to allow for check in for them and to find a seat for you.
What if I have questions about the Bible?
We have an amazing family of believers here at AV Calvary. If you don't know anyone then we suggest you get with an elder or a pastor to help with your questions. Their names and contact information can be found on the leadership page.
Why do you have all the traffic cones along the street on Sundays?
It is for safety! The highway speed in front of our building is 45 MPH. Pulling out of our parking lot can be dangerous, both for the people pulling out from our parking lot and for oncoming traffic. This also includes pulling out from the stop sign located on 1150 West. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible on Sunday mornings, we were advised by local law enforcement to block off the area to allow for clear visibility to those entering onto 500 North.
What is the teaching style?
As a Calvary Chapel we do a verse-by-verse expository teaching of God's word. We go through each book of the bible, chapter by chapter, and line by line. This insures getting the proper context of the scriptures.
What version of the bible do you teach out of?
We mostly use the New King James Version (NKJV) of the bible for our teaching. We also use the New Living Translation (NLT).
How do I pay Tithe/Offerings?
We do not pass a collection plate on Sunday mornings. We do have two collection boxes at the back of the worship center on either side of the sound booth. Your donations are between you and the Lord. We do have a free book we provide called The Treasure Principle. This is an excellent resource to teach us about the biblical principles of giving. This book can be pick up in our west entrance area.
Do you serve communion every Sunday?
Who can take it?
Communion is available every Sunday in the back of the worship center by the cross. You may take it at any time during worship. We take communion corporately once a month, typically on the first Sunday of each month. You will be giving the elements before the serve starts and you will be led in a time of taking them together as a body of believers. If you are a believer in Christ, and a member of HIS church then you are welcome to partake of communion here.
Will I be the only one who doesn't know someone?
We have a fairly large attendance so there are many people coming and going on Sunday mornings who do not know each other. If you feel like AV Calvary is where you want to regularly attend, then we do recommend join in one of our small group bible studies to build relationships with other believers. We also serve coffee before and after services to allow for a time for people to gather and get to know each other.
